Day 3 - Circumnavigation 2025
Hello from beautiful Sydney. This will be the longest stay of the trip at 3 nights and I am definitely glad to be here more than one day so that I can actually explore and catch up on some work.
Today started off bright and early in picturesque Fiji with a beautiful sunrise over the beach. I was also able to check in and drop off my bag for my flight directly in the hotel. I must admit it made me a bit uneasy saying goodbye to my bag away from the airport, but everything worked out wonderfully.
Nadi’s airport is nice enough, but it does seem like efficiency is not something prioritized in Fiji. The flight was pretty uneventful outside of making a poor meal choice: a spinach omelet with baked beans. The worst part was the omelet was on top of the baked beans so each bite had bean juice soaked into it.
The flight arrived on time into a rainy Sydney and breezed through immigration and customs, Fiji definitely could learn from Australia in that regard. After a quick Uber to the hotel and a short wait I was finally in my room. My view looks right out at my main activity for tomorrow, the National Maritime Museum. The hotel seems pretty nice so far and while they don’t offer 24/7 room service like I prefer, it is until 1 am. I had to catch up on some work tasks so it was the perfect night to take advantage of their room service. After some debate, I decided to go for fish and chips which was pretty good.
I then realized I had a meeting at 1 am local time that I forgot about. I’ve barely slept for the last few days so it is not going to be fun trying to stay awake. I’m hoping to be able to move it forward a few hours so that I can get to bed at a reasonable hour.
